HIWIN Technologies

🇹🇼 Taiwan · Taichung | Pilot | Founded 1989 | Partners: Dexterity, Morgan Stanley Top 100

Taiwan's precision-motion powerhouse — the only Taiwanese company alongside TSMC, Foxconn, and Hota on Morgan Stanley's Top 100 humanoid supply chain. Master of ball screws, harmonic drives, and integrated joint modules.

From CNC to humanoid — HIWIN's 95% vertical integration of motion components powers the global robot supply chain.

HIWIN Technologies (TWSE:2049), founded in 1989 in Taichung, is Taiwan's flagship precision-machinery company. While headlines often focus on humanoid robot assemblers, HIWIN is the company that quietly makes the joints, ball screws, and harmonic drives that allow those robots to move. In April 2025, Morgan Stanley ranked HIWIN among the world's top 100 humanoid robot companies — alongside TSMC, Foxconn, and Hota Industrial — placing it as one of the few Taiwanese firms structurally embedded in the global humanoid supply chain.

HIWIN's competitive moat is 95% vertical integration. The company designs and manufactures ball screws, linear guideways, harmonic drive reducers, and integrated joint modules in-house — a level of vertical control rare among precision component makers. This integration enables HIWIN to ship full integrated joint modules to humanoid customers, rather than just discrete components — a meaningful time-to-market advantage for OEM partners.

In November 2025, HIWIN announced its own logistics robot — "Mech," co-developed with US robotics firm Dexterity — entering small-scale production in early 2026 with US testing to follow. The robot is designed for warehouses, logistics, retail, and e-commerce, featuring a compact omnidirectional base capable of rotating and climbing ramps. With humanoid customers worldwide depending on its components, HIWIN sits at one of the most important — and least visible — chokepoints in the humanoid value chain.
